Southwest Regional center priorities are identified in its FY16 scope of work approved by the Ohio Department of Education in June 2015.  Key grant deliverables:

Outreach/Communication/Professional Development 
  • Support regional development and delivery of diversified methods of communication and professional development including video conferencing and instruction, conference calls and webinars 

  • Coordinate regional and sub-regional calendars to accommodate statewide professional development while meeting local and regional needs

  • Communicate regional information to sub-regional partners; encourage engagement in meetings and completion of customer satisfaction and needs assessment surveys

  • Plan and deliver workshops and coordinated communication in partnership with and on behalf of Southwest Regional Center, ODE & OBR initiatives

  • Implement state website and branding guidelines to ensure a consistent message, design and flow of information to CTE stakeholders

CTE-26/POS Submission
  • Coordinate area-wide efforts to build expertise in program to course transition, documentation and career pathway requirements

  • Support CTE-26 submission including POS template creation

  • Promote regional professional development opportunities 

  • Assist regional administrator in resolution of POS problems/issues identified during state approval process

  • Review existing pathways and verify that all agreements, Career Pathways, and Programs of Study are current

  • Process FY17 CTE-26 all new and renewal applications in partnership with school districts, colleges and ODE pathway staff. All new applications must include a Career Pathway and a Program of Study

  • Ensure all FY17 CTE-26 applications meet established standards of quality

Pathway Development
  • Assist institutions with developing career pathways through College Credit Plus, statewide agreements and bilateral articulation agreements

  • Encourage and assist institutions in developing new articulation agreements with apprenticeship and certificate granting partners

  • Support pathway development services to eliminate gap between high school curriculum and postsecondary expectations 

  • Communicate regional college opportunity to students

  • Establish relationships with postsecondary partners to create programs of study from high school career tech programs to associate, certificate and other degree programs from each institutions

  • Contribute to regional team efforts to develop a minimum of six (6) exemplary examples of in-demand Career Pathways and Programs of Study per region that demonstrate the direct, meaningful connection between secondary programs, industry credentials, and postsecondary degree programs. Every effort should be made to develop examples for a range of career pathways including apprenticeship, Ohio Technical Centers, 2-year and 4-year college certificates and degrees
